Learn to Make Geode Resin Trays and Clocks in Singapore

Posted on August 23, 2026

Resin geode art has an appealing contradiction: the finished piece looks spontaneous, but getting that polished, stone-like effect requires control. Pigments need to complement rather than muddy one another, crystal accents need thoughtful placement, and the resin itself must be measured and mixed correctly. In two-part epoxy systems, inaccurate proportions or incomplete mixing can interfere with curing, while the material’s limited working time means design decisions cannot always be reconsidered halfway through a pour.

That learning curve is one reason a hands-on geode resin workshop in Singapore can make sense for someone who likes the look of resin art but does not want to buy a collection of materials simply to experiment at home.

At Concrete Everything’s Maker Studio, beginners can create either a geode-style wooden tray or a resin clock during a guided two-hour session. The workshop covers resin pouring, color blending, layering, and the addition of crystal-like details, with materials, tools, and instruction included. No previous resin experience is required.

The result is more than a decorative craft project. You learn how separate colors, metallic effects, translucent resin, and textured embellishments can be composed into a functional object that looks intentionally designed rather than simply poured.

How Geode Resin Art Turns a Simple Surface Into a Statement Piece

Traditional geodes reveal bands of minerals surrounding a crystalline interior. Resin geode art borrows that visual language rather than attempting to reproduce an actual stone. Colored resin creates flowing mineral-like bands, while mica, pigments, glitter, metallic effects, crushed glass, or crystal elements add variation in depth and texture.

This is what makes the technique particularly well suited to trays and clocks. Neither object needs an elaborate shape to become visually interesting; the surface itself becomes the artwork.

A restrained combination of white, translucent resin, champagne metallic tones, and clear crystals, for instance, can suit a neutral living room. Deep emerald with black and gold can make a clock much more dramatic. Blues, whites, and silver can produce a cooler stone or ice-inspired effect.

The important idea is that geode resin design is not simply about adding more decoration. Successful compositions rely on contrast. Transparent areas make metallic pigments more noticeable. Fine lines give broad color bands definition. Crystalline details attract attention when they are concentrated instead of distributed equally across the whole piece.

The Core Skills Behind the Geode Effect

Concrete Everything specifically teaches resin pouring, pigment blending, layering, color mixing, and the placement of crystal-like accents. Those techniques address several of the biggest challenges beginners encounter.

Mixing comes first. Two-part epoxy resin has to be combined according to the manufacturer’s specified ratio and stirred thoroughly, including material against the sides and bottom of the mixing container.

Color comes next. Instead of turning an entire batch one color, resin can be divided and tinted separately. Mica powders are especially useful for geode-style work because they can create metallic, swirling effects when properly incorporated into the resin.

Then comes composition. Different resin colors can be poured in neighboring bands and manipulated before curing. Decorative stones or crystal-like elements create the textured areas associated with geode art. Artists can also build visual depth through layering rather than trying to create every effect in a single flat pour.

A guided workshop lets you see these variables interacting in real time, which is considerably easier than troubleshooting a sticky or poorly composed first project after it has already been poured.

Should You Make a Geode Resin Tray or a Clock?

Concrete Everything gives participants a choice between one wooden tray or one clock during the workshop. The listed approximate dimensions are 30 cm × 2.5 cm for the wooden tray and 21.5 cm × 0.5 cm for the clock.

The better option depends less on skill level and more on where you want the finished piece to live.

A geode resin tray is a good choice when you want decorative art that can become part of a tabletop arrangement. It can work on a console, dressing table, coffee table, or display shelf. Because a tray is viewed relatively close up, details such as translucent bands, fine metallic lines, and clusters of crystal accents can become important elements of the design.

A geode resin clock has a different job. It needs enough visual presence to work on a wall while leaving the clock face readable. Stronger color blocking or one distinctive geode formation can therefore work better than filling every area with detail. Resin clocks also demonstrate how resin art can be converted into a functional object; resin craft tutorials commonly combine a decorated base with clock hardware after the artwork has been completed.

Think about the recipient as well. A tray designed around someone's home colors can make a personal housewarming gift, while a clock can become a larger visual focal point.

What to Expect From the Geode Resin Workshop in Singapore

Concrete Everything operates a local Singapore design studio that says it has been experimenting with materials and conducting craft workshops since 2014, later expanding beyond concrete into materials including resin and other creative mediums.

The Geode Resin Workshop is held at Concrete Everything Maker Studio, 37 Jalan Pemimpin, Mapex, #03-08, Singapore 577177, near Marymount MRT. Each session runs for approximately two hours. All materials, tools, and guidance required for the project are included, according to the current workshop listing.

At the time of writing on August 21, 2026, the product page displays S85alongsideS105, so participants should treat the live booking page as the authoritative source for the applicable price when reserving a session.

From Arrival to Collection

The experience is structured differently from a typical craft class where you leave carrying your project.

During the session, you choose and develop your design, prepare colored resin, pour and layer the composition, and incorporate the decorative elements that create the geode appearance. The studio asks participants to arrive around 10 minutes before the scheduled starting time.

After pouring, the resin needs time to harden. Concrete Everything states that the project takes approximately 24 hours to cure, so finished pieces cannot be taken home immediately. They can instead be collected from the studio the following day during the stated Monday-to-Saturday collection hours of 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., or delivery can be arranged for an additional fee.

There is also an important booking detail for individuals: the workshop requires a minimum of five participants before a session can proceed, and the studio says a confirmation email is sent when the workshop is confirmed. Each booking covers one person, and confirmed workshops are subject to the studio's stated no-cancellation and no-show policies.

How to Get Better Results From Your First Resin Project

The most useful preparation happens before you touch the resin. Arriving with a general visual direction prevents you from making every design decision while the material's working time is counting down. Epoxy cure and working characteristics vary with the resin formulation and temperature; in general, warmer conditions accelerate curing.

For a smoother first session:

  • Choose a small color family. Two or three related colors plus a metallic accent are easier to balance than six competing shades. Save reference images showing the mood you like rather than trying to copy another piece exactly.

  • Protect some visual breathing room. Clear, white, or lightly tinted sections allow dramatic pigment and crystal areas to stand out.

  • Build contrast through texture. Pair smooth resin bands with concentrated crystal-like areas instead of covering the entire surface with embellishments.

  • Let the resin move naturally. Geode patterns benefit from slight irregularities. Excessive manipulation can make once-distinct colors blend together.

  • Listen carefully during mixing and pouring instructions. Proper proportioning and thorough mixing are fundamental to reliable epoxy curing.

Safety deserves the same attention as appearance. Uncured epoxy can present a skin-exposure hazard and may cause irritation or sensitization. Government occupational-safety guidance recommends minimizing skin contact, using appropriate protective equipment for the particular resin system, protecting the eyes where splashing is possible, and maintaining adequate ventilation.

This is another practical advantage of learning in a guided setting: instructions, materials, and tools are organized around the activity rather than requiring a first-time maker to establish an entire home resin workspace independently. Concrete Everything explicitly describes its resin workshops as beginner-friendly and provides the tools and guidance for the project.

Why Geode Resin Workshops Work for More Than Solo Crafting

Resin art is personal enough for an individual hobby session but structured enough to work as a shared activity. Everyone follows the same underlying process, yet differences in palette, pouring patterns, and crystal placement mean the completed pieces do not need to look alike.

That makes a workshop relevant for several situations:

  • Couples and friends can work alongside one another while still making genuinely individual objects.

  • Birthday or private groups get an activity with a physical keepsake rather than another disposable event experience.

  • Corporate teams can participate in a common process without requiring artistic experience or competitive skills.

  • Gift makers can design around the recipient's interior colors, favorite palette, or preferred decorative style.

Concrete Everything markets its broader studio program for couples, friends, private gatherings, corporate events, and team-building sessions, and its current site describes resin as one of the materials available through its beginner-friendly workshop program.

For companies, the benefit is particularly straightforward: participants have a shared task but retain creative ownership of their individual outcome. Someone who rarely speaks during competitive team games may be perfectly comfortable discussing color choices, comparing pours, or helping a colleague decide where an accent should go. The finished objects also provide a tangible reminder of the activity after everyone returns to work.
